"I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" is director Keenen Ivory Wayan's nod to the great black exploitation films of the 70s. For this reason, he littered the film with stand-outs of the genre, including Jim Brown, John Vernon, and the recently deceased, Isaac Hayes.

The plot is your typical set-up. New guy comes to town, finds out things are being run by... (drum roll)... a villain named Mr. Big. Decides he's had enough and recruits some old buddies to go fuck some shit up.

The film's opening credit sequence contains a smart, effective suit-up scene that takes an unexpected twist. A young Ignacio (Nacho) opens a dresser drawer containing icons, religious comics, wrestling action figures, and a holy bible.

Ammunition, Grenades and a Pocket Protector!?

For the past few weeks now, I've seen the image of a pocket protector being tucked into a top pocket. I woke up in a cold sweat the other night thinking about it. I felt it like a phantom, resting against my chest when I'd go out wearing a shirt with a pocket on the chest. I even accosted one of the salesman at Geek Squad the other day, when he smirked at my dilemma and responded back with a snarky comment.

I knew this image fit into a suit-up scene... but which one?

Paris, France 1969. A futuristic spy film is being made. The moon 2001. Stunningly beautiful agent Codename Dragonfly gets suited up to infiltrate Mr. E's moon base in a skintight, pink spacesuit!

One star?

The scene suffers from the scene within a scene structure that comes in and out of the entire film. The film within the film's director, played by Jeremy Davies, is reviewing the suit-up scene in the cutting room as we the audience are viewing it for the first time. He has probably seen the scene several times so he fast forwards it!!!

There are so many films out there that you either love or hate. “The Deer Hunter”, “A Clockwork Orange”, “Freddy Got Fingered”, “Space Jam”; the list goes on.

"Hot Rod" definitely falls into that category.

¡Three Amigos! is one of my all time favorite comedies. The script is packed full of hilariously absurd situations and memorable one-liners. And even if you don't really like Martin Short (which I don't) and have been disappointed with Chevy Chase since his SNL days (which I am) and wonder why Steve Martin can't always be The Jerk (which I do), their performances and timing here is priceless. Also, there's an actor named Fred Asparagus and it makes me laugh every time I see his name in the credits.

Of all movies to have a suit-up, “Juno” isn’t the first to come to mind. After catching the tail-end of an “Arrested Development” episode, I started doing this subconscious thing where I count-out how many films I know an actor has been in by twitching my fingers one at a time, starting with the left pinky. Three movies into Michael Cera I get to “Juno”. At that point the image I have filed in my head for his character is the shot where he’s standing on the porch of his house in his track gear, Hot Pocket in hand.

Need input? Cyber-Punk never really hit as a fashion trend.

As a child of the 80's, I'm pretty confident that I'm not the only person who loved the Short Circuit series and watched the movies over and over. Though the movies aren't particularly good, they rocked because of how awesome and believable the robots were. Until then, most of the robots I had seen in movies were typical sci-fi concepts. Short Circuit broke that by introducing robots that looked like they could actually exist.

If fortune cookies have taught me anything (other than how to speak Chinese without verbs), it's that in life we need balance. I don't know how many times I've been stuck with the "balance" fortune at the end of a Chinese feast. Everyone else is getting predictions of fortune, romance or happiness, while I'm being told shit like:

"Become your mind and spirit balanced." (5, 21, 30, 31, 32, 33 Grape = Pu-tao)

"Emotional well-being is product of your balanced heart. Go for it!" (5, 11, 17, 19, 22, 27 February = Er-yue)
