"I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" is director Keenen Ivory Wayan's nod to the great black exploitation films of the 70s. For this reason, he littered the film with stand-outs of the genre, including Jim Brown, John Vernon, and the recently deceased, Isaac Hayes.

The plot is your typical set-up. New guy comes to town, finds out things are being run by... (drum roll)... a villain named Mr. Big. Decides he's had enough and recruits some old buddies to go fuck some shit up.

The Prototype Suit-Up Scene

This suit-up scene is so epic, I don't even know where to begin.

First off, I'd like to say that this is to me, the prototype suit-up scene. In fact, this is the suit-up scene that inspired me to create this site. As a kid, Commando was easily one of my favorite movies. This is Schwarzenegger at his best. Everything about his character, John Matrix, is what a growing boy wants to be.

Georgia Sykes (Keys) and her partner Sharice (Henson) are preparing for the biggest gig they have ever booked in their budding assassin careers: to smoke Aces.

From the aptly titled film, Smokin Aces, a voyeuristic suit-up scene moved from three stars to four the more I considered it's theme and character development.

The scene opens with Georgia slapping a clip into a handgun -- an inviting suit-up scene from the start. She is in a hotel room at the Nomad, several floors below where Buddy 'Aces' Israel is hiding out in his swank penthouse suite.

'The city of Townsville!'

Those of you familiar with that particular introduction are already well acquainted with Craig McCracken's endearing and ingeniously stylized Powerpuff Girls. The hyper editing, break-beat techno infused, minimalism of the Cartoon Network series makes the movie a fun treat that features the origin of the girls' most arcane of arch-enemies (and his very first suit-up scene!)...Mojo Jojo!

Keith is best friends with Watts. Watts loves Keith. But Keith loves Amanda. In the world of the John Hughes 80s rom-com/coming of age story, this is familiar territory. Though, similar to "Pretty In Pink", John Hughes didn't direct "Some Kind Of Wonderful". He wrote and produced it. What also ties those films together, is that they were both directed by Howard Deutch. (Deutch would go on to have a hat trick with "The Great Outdoors" one year later)

There was a time a few years back when I was excited to see Marvel comic characters in a movie. You had Spider-man on the big screen, Blade, The Uncanny X-men, then... Daredevil? Don’t get me wrong, I’ll geek for the man without fear in a heartbeat, but the film... lack-luster just isn’t the right word, is it? After that the slew of popcorn-scented box office chum just kept dripping from the boat. "Elektra", "Fantastic Four", "The Punisher".

Snake’s back.

John Carpenter’s Escape from New York is one of the greatest movies ever made, hands down. You’ve got post-apocalyptic destruction, intense action sequences, and a bad ass in an eye patch that goes by the name of Snake (and sometimes Plissken, if you can catch him on a good day).

In 1996, when I first saw the trailer for the sequel to this sci-fi/action classic in which our eye patch rocking anti-hero was back, this time to escape from Los Angeles of all places, without hesitation, I pissed my pants.

Then the movie came out and...it was OK.

Suiting up for the organezized 187, courtesy existential crisis, OR: how's life in the pimp business? Suck on this!

Soren Kierkegaard had a theory about the angst-rich idea of identity, the malcontent and drudgery that made T. Yorke want to explode. "Ceasar or nothing!" yells his metaphorical man, a man who so desparately wants to be not-himself that the mere existence he lives as himself screws grief to the seat of his drawers. He longs for this most lofty of titles as his most swayed opposite, the most extreme version of his would-be self (all the better for the histrionics, my dear); his lack breeds a despair that creates a "disrelationship" between the self and the concept of self.

Geez, what's to say about this scene... hell, this movie... shit, I'll go one further; this director, that's not already been said. (how's that for an elliptical sentence!?) Look, I was never a big fan of the original Batman franchise. At this point, you might be saying, "Well, no shit Sherlock. Schumacher raped its asshole and then forced his shit-stained dick into its unwilling mouth." But when I say I was never really a big fan of the franchise, I mean of every-movie-in-the-quadrilogy.
